The University of Miami changed the face of modern health care in South Florida when it purchased Cedars Medical Center in late 2007. The 560-bed facility was renamed University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and is now the only university-owned and –operated teaching hospital in Florida. At the flagship hospital of UHealth – the University of Miami Health System, private care physicians work side by side with UM faculty physicians to provide the most comprehensive care for patients.
UHealth provides precise diagnostics and targeted therapies customized to each patient’s individual needs, an approach known as precision medicine. This model is possible at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics because of the amazing teams of physician-experts, scientists, and nurses focused on the best treatment for each patient. In just a few short years, UMH has made significant gains along every measure of clinical and operational excellence.
